Each month during the school year*, The Crestwood - Sunset Hills Area Chamber of Commerce honors a student that attends one of the participating high schools - Lindbergh High School, Thomas Jefferson School, or South Technical High School. They do not have to be a resident of our two cities. Students are nominated by their school to our Student of the Month committee. At the monthly luncheon, the Student of the Month Sponsor presents the student with a certificate commemorating the occasion and a $50 savings bond. Read below about some of the most recent outstanding students in our area.

She is taking all AP classes this year: Biology, Chemistry, Comparative Government and Politics, and English Language and Composition. Aside from her heavy academic load, she finds time for Tap Dance III, plays on the Varsity Basketball team, the Dance Club, participates in Mock Trial and the Math Club. For the past three years she has tutored elementary children in math at an elementary school in the City. She writes for the TJ newspaper and takes photographs for the yearbook and newspaper. Outside of school Echo plays golf and tennis and volunteers her time both in the U.S. and back in her homeland of China. When the earthquake hit her country, she organized a fundraiser that has evolved into a continuing effort of helping earthquake victims. She volunteers for the Chinese Horticultural International Festival in Xi'an, using her English skills to serve as a guide for foreign tourists and organizing events in her home city. The part that drives Echo to be her best is that she cares so much for her country and wants to be an influence on its future. She was extremely excited this fall when her mother and little four-year old brother moved to St. Louis to be with her in her final year at TJ. Echo loves Chinese philosopher quotes, but also has a motto of her own: "Live without shame." Congratulations, Echo. |
